VelaVela
Getting Started

Overview

What Vela is, why it exists, and what you can build with it.

Vela is a TypeScript framework that brings NestJS-style architecture to edge runtimes. Built on top of Hono, it gives you decorators, dependency injection, and a modular structure while running on Cloudflare Workers, Deno, Bun, and Node.js.

Why Vela?

Edge runtimes are fast, but building large applications on them quickly becomes unstructured. Vela solves this with patterns you already know:

  • Controllers and decorators for defining routes declaratively
  • Modules for organizing your application into cohesive units
  • Dependency injection with a full IoC container and constructor injection
  • Pipes, guards, and interceptors for a composable request pipeline
  • Workers-native application structure, powered by Hono

Who is Vela for?

Vela is designed for developers who:

  • Want NestJS patterns without the Node.js runtime dependency
  • Are building APIs on Cloudflare Workers or other edge platforms
  • Need dependency injection and modular architecture in a lightweight package
  • Prefer decorators and TypeScript-first development
